The Central Nervous System is comprised of the brain, the spinal cord and the nerves. The Brain is protected by the skull. The spinal cord and nerve roots are protected by the spine. The brain controls and coordinates all of the functions of your body (voluntary and involuntary), by sending and receiving information through the network of nerves.
An example of a voluntary function might be deciding to bend over to lift up an object and then doing it.
An example of an involuntary function might be controlling the rate and rhythm of the heartbeat.
When a nerve gets "pinched" the ability to carry messages to and from the brain is effected. When the "pinch" is from a spinal segment (vertebrae) shifting out of normal position or movement, realigning the segment can remove the pressure on the nerve.
Chiropractic care is to the skeletal system what orthodontics is to the teeth: a method of realignment. However, in the case of the spine, a bone not properly aligned can cause nerve pressure and early degeneration of the joint. This can affect the structural look and function of the body supplied by the joint and nerve (brouse our 3d Spine Simulator on our home page for nerve distribution and organs affected).
The Chiropractic Physician is specially trained to evaluate, diagnose and treat the spine and skeletal system and Chiropractic care is safe and effective for patients of any age. It is also painless!
Why suffer needlessly. You don't have to "learn to live with it" most of the time. Why not see if Chiropractic care can help you or someone you know. You might be glad you did.
